Surprises Found The Toilet
Surprises Found The Toilet
It happens to us all–we are hurrying to get ready to leave the house and we knock something off the bathroom counter and into the toilet. Oops. What now? Can I flush THAT? Do I really need it? Aw, but that was my favorite toothbrush…! Yeah, we’ve all been there and done that.
Over the years, we have received calls for backed up toilets and we have encountered every kind of object that you can imagine. We thought it would be interesting to share the three most common surprises found in the toilet!
Toys
The most common of the surprises found in the toilet are children’s toys. Children play with toys in the bathtub which is usually located beside a toilet. They often use the toilet as a staging area for their toys and inevitably, one or two will find its way into the toilet. It is the squishy medium-sized toys that create the most problems for clogging a toilet. They are flexible and enter the large hole at the bottom of the toilet, but then clog the smaller pipes leaving the toilet system. The next time you are shopping for bathtub toys for the little ones, we recommend to buy hard plastic toys that are at least 5 inches in diameter.
Dental Appliances
The next in our list of surprises found in the toilet are dental appliances. Some of the objects found have been full and partial sets of dentures, retainers and night guards. It can happen that someone forgets to remove these objects until they wake in the middle of the night, and in a sleepy stuper they accidentally knock the item into the toilet. These items can easily clog a toilet and the plumbing system.
Animals
Some of the scariest surprises found in the toilet are animals. Maybe Johnny was playing “Olympic Swimmer” with the poor little guinea pig, or maybe the family dog has the bad habit of drinking water from the toilet. In either case, these animals can easily clog the toilet. Even the dreaded goldfish flush can have bad results if the goldfish is large enough!
Please be careful to note what is in your toilet before you flush, but if your toilet is clogged, give us a call and we will be there in a flash!
